SHB30416 – Certificate III in Hairdressing

Certificate III in Hairdressing is the recognised trade qualification for the hairdressing industry.It provides students with foundation skills and knowledge to work as a hairdresser. Content areas at this level include applying skills and knowledge to sell products and services, ensuring a safe working environment and performing a full range of client services, including client consultation, cut, style, colour, straighten and permanently wave hair with chemical reformation solutions and while ommunicating within the workplace.

Once complete you will be able to perform a full range of client services including:

Qualification entry requirements: there are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Course duration: Course duration is 12 months. This course is competency based.
Assessment: Students will receive a variety of assessment tasks for each Unit of Competence
undertaken. The assessment tasks will be conducted utilizing a selection of assessment methods
which could include; observation, demonstration, written questions, verbal questioning, portfolio,
assignment or workplace assessment. Students are expected to attempt each assessment task
presented within the unit of competence.

Pathways: On Successful completion of Certificate III in Hairdressing, students may continue onto further study in Certificate IV in Hairdressing (SHB40216), Diploma of Salon Management (SHB50216) or Graduate Certificate in Hairdressing Creative Leadership (SHB80116).
